Your Colour Season

Your Colour Season

I have literally been hearing about "Colour Analysis" everywhere and I know you have too because who hasn't at this point. But what the hell even is a Colour Analysis??

Well after some thorough research that I've done on both of our behalves, I can report back that I'm still confused, so let's try and figure this out together.

Google says that "People get categorized into seasonal "types" based on their natural colouring. This could be your skin tone, natural hair colour and eye colour. Each season, Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn is divided into three subcategories so you can get real specific."

I'm a visual learner so I found Pinterest examples and included what I found while researching each season.

WINTER (DEEP & COOL)

True Winter

  • Features: Very cool skin tones (often pale or with pink/blue undertones), dark hair, and eyes that really pop like dark brown, black, or icy blue.

  • Vibe: High contrast like snow on pine trees. You look great in bold, dramatic colours.

  • Best colours: Crisp black and white, icy blues, cool reds (like cranberry), and bright jewel tones (sapphire, emerald, fuchsia). Stay away from anything warm or muted, it can make your features look dull.

Bright Winter

  • Features: Bright eyes (like clear blue, green, or light hazel), cool-toned skin, and often dark or medium-dark hair. There’s still contrast, but what really stands out is how vibrant your natural colours are.

  • Vibe: Frosty mornings with sunlight shining off snow, something cool and vivid.

  • Best colours: Super sharp, icy, and cool tones, like bright turquoise, icy pinks, and even neon-ish versions of jewel tones. Black still works, but white or very bright colours might suit you even better. Avoid dusty or earthy tones, they’ll mute your natural glow.

Dark Winter

  • Features: Deep hair (like black or dark brown), dark eyes, and skin that can be fair to medium or even deep. You still have that Winter contrast, but it’s more sultry and rich than icy and bright.

  • Vibe: Imagine a snowy night with shadows and twinkling lights, something mysterious and intense.

  • Best colours: Think elegant and bold. Deep teal, burgundy, plum, forest green, navy, and of course, black. Lighter or pastel colours may wash you out.

Best Overall Colours for Winters

  • Black and white: Sharp and timeless, perfect for your contrast.

  • Cool jewel tones: Fuchsia, sapphire blue, emerald green. These colours make your features pop.

  • Icy pastels: Light colours with a cool, almost frosty edge (not warm or peachy).

SPRING (WARM & LIGHT)

Spring people are like sunshine, full of warmth, light, and brightness.

True Spring

  • What you might look like: Golden or peachy skin undertones, Bright light eyes (blue, green, or hazel), and hair that ranges from golden blonde to light brown.

  • Vibe: You light up in fresh, warm, happy colours like a bouquet of tulips.

  • Best Colours: Coral, peach, turquoise, golden yellow, mostly warm and energizing.

Bright Spring

  • What you might look like: Super warm-toned skin, golden or red undertones, eyes and hair with warmth (honey, amber, or light brown with gold).

  • Vibe: You're practically glowing. Like golden hour but all the time.

  • Best Colours: Rich corals, golden orange, salmon, warm turquoise, bright and toasty without being too dark.

Light Spring

  • What you might look like: Light blonde or strawberry hair, pale skin with warm undertones, and soft light eyes (blue, green, or grey).

  • Vibe: Soft and romantic, like a watercolour painting.

  • Best Colours: Buttery yellows, light corals, mint green, and soft gold.

Spring’s Winning Colours:

  • Coral, peach, bright turquoise, golden yellow, fresh warm greens

  • Avoid: Harsh black or anything too dusty or cool-toned, they weigh you down

SUMMER (COOL & SOFT)

Summer types are like hot mornings and faded denim, it's giving calm, cool, and elegant.

True Summer

  • What you might look like: Cool-toned skin (pink or blue undertones), ash-blonde or light brown hair, soft blue or grey eyes.

  • Vibe: You shine in soft-focus, dreamy tones, like a beach day with clouds rolling in.

  • Best Colours: Rose, soft pinks, powdery blues, lavender (gentle, romantic shades).

Cool Summer

  • What you might look like: Very cool skin tone (no warm undertones), hair that’s ash or neutral (never golden), and pale, cool eyes.

  • Vibe: You’re the most “Winter-adjacent” of the Summers, like soft sophistication.

  • Best Colours: Dusty mauve, smoky lilac, icy blue, soft navy, all toned down and graceful.

Light Summer

  • What you might look like: Light hair and eyes (blonde, grey, light blue/green), fair skin with cool or neutral undertones.

  • Vibe: Delicate and airy, like sea glass or moonlight.

  • Best Colours: Periwinkle, soft sage, lavender-grey, petal pink, nothing too loud or bold.

 Summer’s Best Colours:

  • Lavender, soft pinks, cool rose, powder blue, sage, cool greys

  • Avoid: Harsh blacks, oranges, or neon brights, they drown out your natural softness

AUTUMN (WARM & MUTED)

Autumn types are earthy, cozy, and rich like walking through a forest of fall leaves.

True Autumn

  • What you might look like: Warm, golden undertones; brown, auburn, or deep red hair; warm hazel or brown eyes.

  • Vibe: You are fall. Cozy sweaters, hot drinks, golden sunlight, that’s your aesthetic.

  • Best Colours: Burnt orange, mustard, olive green, rich browns, literally anything you’d find in a fall-themed Pinterest board.

Warm Autumn

  • What you might look like: Extremely warm skin tone, often with red or copper tones in the hair, and warm eyes like amber or green-gold.

  • Vibe: The warmest of all the seasons like candlelight in colour form.

  • Best Colours: Golds, rich oranges, spicy reds, mossy greens, very warm and cozy.

Deep Autumn

  • What you might look like: Dark hair, dark eyes, medium to deep skin with warmth! You may have a more dramatic look.

  • Vibe: Think of a forest right before dusk, something mysterious, moody, warm.

  • Best Colours: Deep teal, brick red, espresso brown, forest green, earthy but with depth.

 Autumn’s Best Colours:

  • Olive, rust, mustard, camel, warm browns, terracotta, burnt orange

  • Avoid: Cool tones like icy blue or light grey, they’ll wash you out
