THERMAL VS HEAT

Heat vs. Thermal Protection—What’s the Difference?

Not all heat protectants are created equal—and not all heat is the same.

Quick breakdown:

  • Heat protection = light, surface-level shield. Great for quick straightening or touch-ups.

  • Thermal protection = deeper care. Think blowouts, diffusing, or frequent heat use. It treats and protects hair while you style.

Bonus: Thermal protectants often include UV filters to guard against sun damage—heat sprays don’t.

Heat Protection shields hair from styling tools like blow dryers and straighteners, preventing immediate damage like dryness and breakage. It offers basic protection, typically up to 450°F (230°C).

Thermal Protection provides deeper care, nourishing and strengthening hair during repeated styling while also protecting from heat up to 450°F and protects from UV rays while you're out in the sun a lot.

Let's get into some products that are HEAT vs THERMAL PROTECTORS:

Recap:

Use thermal protection for serious styling and to protect from UV.
